A Mizumiki shop with over 120 years of history. The service is top-notch because the staff matches the dishes so smoothly with the water/rice! There are four different timings to taste the broth, and it's fun to enjoy the changes brought by adding vegetables or mushrooms in addition to the bird broth! The staff was friendly, and listening to local stories made it an enjoyable time.

I visited the water rice invention shop on a friend's recommendation. The access by train isn't great, but it seems like you can get there for a little over 1000 yen by taxi from around Haruyoshi. I asked for the most basic course of water rice dishes, and the amount was sufficient. The taste is excellent. At first, they serve you the soup, which tastes like more than just young chicken, water, and salt. The pot is served by the staff with an explanation, so you can eat it in a good condition. In the middle, you continue eating while enjoying the thickening soup. At the end, they get rid of the remaining ingredients and make a mixed rice dish. The meal ended in about an hour and a half because it was eaten at a good pace. Usually, I would go to a second place, but I wanted to savor the elegance of the dish, so I just returned to my lodging. This was a shop I definitely want to visit again when I come to Fukuoka.
