August 2026When I visited Surue in Fukuoka, I mentioned I was from Kumamoto, and the manager told me they have a location in Kumamoto too, so I decided to visit! The interior was almost the same as the Fukuoka branch, with counter seats, table seats, and two private rooms! For a yakitori place, the counter seat is definitely the way to go! Amakusa Daio's farted campagne (bread) is perfect with alcohol! It pairs so well! The Kurosatuma-ji chicken 'thump' (tataki/beaten style) is an explosion of flavor!
